TEHRAN-Renowned Iranian composer and conductor Ali Rahbari will conduct two Chinese orchestras in their performances in China late April.

Rahbari will first accompany Qingdao Symphony Orchestra on April 20 in Qingdao, a city in eastern Shandong Province, and on April 26, he will serve as the conductor of Guiyang Symphony Orchestra in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, ISNA reported.

Both orchestras comprise about 85 instrumentalists and in addition to working with Chinese conductors, they sometimes invite international conductors to improve the quality of their works.

In the upcoming performances, Rahbari will collaborate with the orchestras to perform pieces by Russian musicians.

Rahbari, 75, has earlier conducted six other symphony orchestras in various cities of China including Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Wuhan.

The Iranian maestro is now conducting alongside Valery Gergiev as the permanent guest conductor of the Mariinsky Opera in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Rahbari has worked with more than 120 orchestras including Tehran Symphony Orchestra. He has previously held the position of permanent guest conductor in orchestras such as the Belgian Radio Television Philharmonic, the Czech Philharmonic, and the Belgrade Philharmonic. He has also been in charge of the artistic management of the symphony orchestras of Brussels, Malaga, Zagreb, and Malaga.
